Surrey & Hampshire Property Market Update: What’s Hot in September

As September settles in, the Surrey and Hampshire property markets are seeing some interesting trends. Families have returned from summer breaks, schools are back in session and many buyers and sellers are gearing up to move before the year-end. Key National Data from Rightmove & How It Affects Us

• The national average asking price for homes coming onto the market in September 2025 is £370,257, up by 0.4% month-on-month — but down 0.1% compared to this time last year.
• Across the UK, the number of sales agreed is up 4% on this time last year. In the south of England (which includes Surrey & Hampshire), it’s up by about 3%. 
• Supply is increasing more sharply in the south: the number of homes for sale is 9% higher than a year ago in the south of England, whereas elsewhere the increase is nearer 2%. 
• It’s taking longer to find a buyer in the south: on average five days longer than in other parts of Great Britain and Wales.
• Mortgage rates have eased a little. For example, the average two-year fixed mortgage rate has dropped from around 5.03% a year ago to about 4.52% now, which improves affordability.
